May’s full moon is traditionally referred to as the Flower Moon, as we see flowers offering their gifts of colour and aroma to our world. Life for all in nature, here in the Northern Hemisphere, is growing abundantly beneath the rays of the Sun. You too are growing, and the seeds you have sown are now becoming evident.
As this full moon falls on May Day, 1st May 2026, and near the soon-occurring Beltane on 5th May, it is a time of fertility, sharing and celebration. Remember to share your inner beauty, and to appreciate the beauty that others bring.
The full moon in Scorpio is annually celebrated by some as the birthday of Buddha, while others also suggest it marks the physical death of Buddha. This correspondence with Buddha’s birth and/or death reminds us of the importance of awakening, accessing new insights, transforming, and transcending our perception of suffering and pain.
The Scorpio and Taurus axis desires inner and outer harmony, stability and security. The Sun in steadfast Taurus, a fixed earth sign, encourages us to stay grounded, practical and patient as we create physical security. Meanwhile, the Full Moon in Scorpio seeks emotional stability. Scorpio is fixed water and is renowned for its deep and intense feelings, which may bring repressed or suppressed issues from the past to the surface.
As easy as it may be to project this as anger, it is also an opportunity to feel into it and locate its root cause. There is value in allowing Scorpio to do what it does best: breaking things down in order to transform and transcend. If utilised consciously, this dynamic full moon can support the transformation of our deepest hidden fears — and it will help if you are willing to look at what they are.
A Scorpio full moon may be expected to heighten instincts and intuition, potentially presenting the opportunity to become aware of things that have previously been unknown.
It is also worth noting that the Sun in Taurus and the Full Moon in Scorpio are T-squared to Pluto, soon to station retrograde. With Lord of the Underworld Pluto hanging around, this adds extra weight, especially with them all in fixed signs. As tempting as it might be to try and control situations, this may only prolong discomfort. Dig deep, be willing to feel, and release.
A Crystal Ritual for the Full Moon in Scorpio
My intuitively selected crystal allies for this full moon are obsidian for the Moon in Scorpio, paired with rose quartz for the Sun in Taurus.
Obsidian is an igneous rock that forms when molten rock material cools so rapidly that the atoms are unable to arrange themselves into a crystalline structure. It is an amorphous material known as a mineraloid. The result is volcanic glass, which can be used as a mirror for scrying, but also for deep soul healing.
Hold your obsidian in your left hand and request that it links to your right brain and to the lunar current, commonly called your Ida Nadi.
Rose quartz is held in the right hand. This pink rock quartz develops as a mass made up of silicon and oxygen, like all quartz, but with the addition of pink dumortierite, which gives it its pink hue. This colour, and its mass form, invites us to soften our heart and fill up on the possibility that compassion and acceptance can release us from fear.
By holding it in the right hand, we intentionally connect it with the left brain and the Pingala Nadi.
These nadis criss-cross in the central nadi called the Sushumna, which extends from the Root Chakra to the Crown Chakra.
Next, calm your breathing and ask the question:
“What discordance is holding me back?”
Then allow your thoughts, feelings and visions to arise, being mindful to remain the observer. Once you establish the discordance, perhaps anger, shame, guilt, fear or sadness. Allow yourself to feel it. Notice where you are feeling it in the body.
Now imagine the obsidian and rose quartz are dredging the Sushumna Nadi, cleansing and balancing the Ida and Pingala Nadis, along with the chakras within this chakra column.
As you do this, take steady, deep breaths. Imagine that with every outbreath you are releasing the discordance you have held onto. As this discordance is breathed out, you might imagine your breath is pink and filled with compassion.
IMPORTANT NOTE – please ground your roots into the earth before and after doing this crystal healing exercise and drink plenty of water as water helps us to purify and release toxins.
With love and gratitude,
Kelly Peacey
