Sagittarius Full Moon and Iolite as an ally.

As with all Full Moons, we may be extra aware of culmination, emotional peaks, illumination and the need to release. The Sagittarius Full Moon opposite the Gemini Sun highlights the axis of communication, knowledge, truth and meaning.

The logical, left-brained Gemini Sun encourages us to ask questions, gather information, listen, speak and explore different perspectives. As mutable air, Gemini is curious, adaptable and interested in the details.

As mutable fire, the Sagittarius Full Moon illuminates the bigger picture. Sagittarius is in pursuit of truth, wisdom, freedom, spiritual understanding and lived experience. It asks: What do I truly believe? Where am I being called to grow?

Together, this Full Moon can bring awareness to the tension between information and wisdom, facts and faith, the details and the bigger picture. It encourages us to speak our truth, even when that truth feels difficult, uncomfortable or inconvenient for ourselves or others.

This Full Moon is also a strong invitation to let go of what is not truly you: borrowed beliefs, inherited narratives, people-pleasing, old identities, or truths you have outgrown. Sagittarius reminds us that truth is not only something we speak, but something we must be brave enough to live.

There is also a restless and awakening edge, with the Moon opposite Uranus bringing sudden insights, unexpected news, changes in plans, or breakthroughs that shift how we see the truth. Expect the unexpected, especially around communication, travel, information or revelations that shake up the old worldview. This may feel liberating, disruptive, or perhaps both.

The Full Moon also reactivates the solar square to the Nodes of the Moon, bringing a karmic quality to the energy. The Nodes are connected with destiny, soul growth, old patterns and the choices that move us forwards. With the Moon square the Lunar Nodes, we may feel pulled between the familiar past and the unknown future. Choice points may arise: do we stay safe, or do we grow?

The Sun conjunct Aldebaran, the Watcher of the East, supports bold words, integrity, eloquence and principled action. It reminds us that truth must be spoken with responsibility, and that with great vision comes the need to act ethically.

The Moon conjunct Antares, the Rival of Mars, adds intensity, passion and a fierce pursuit of truth. This can fuel courage, emotional pressure or confrontation, but also bring powerful clarity and breakthrough insight under pressure.

This is also a Blue Micromoon. It is a Blue Moon because it is the second Full Moon in May 2026, following the Scorpio Full Moon on 1 May, and it is a Micromoon because the Moon is near its furthest point from Earth, appearing slightly smaller and dimmer than usual. The Full Moon peaks on Sunday, 31st May 2026 at 9:45 am BST in Sagittarius.

Spiritually, this gives the Full Moon a quieter but deeply potent feeling. It may not arrive with dramatic force, but it can still bring profound realisations. It asks us to clear mental noise, release false stories, trust the wisdom gained through experience, and choose the path that feels honest, expansive and aligned with the soul.

My Full Moon Crystal Ally is Iolite

With a Blue Moon, it seems fitting to work with a blue stone.

According to legend, iolite is known as the Viking Compass Stone. It is said that thin slices of iolite were used as glare-reducers and polarising filters, helping ancient Viking navigators locate the Sun on cloudy days. This may have allowed Nordic mariners to find their position while travelling across the seas.

The property that made iolite so valuable is its strong pleochroism, which means it can show different colours when viewed from different directions. From one angle, iolite may appear violet-blue, almost like sapphire; from another, it can look clear and watery; and from another, it may show a honey-yellow tone. In the past, this quality led some people to call iolite โ€œwater sapphire,โ€ though this name is now rarely used.

Geologically, iolite is a magnesium aluminium silicate and belongs to the cyclosilicate, or ring silicate, family. Cyclosilicates have crystal lattices that contain rings of silicate tetrahedrons. Energetically, cyclosilicates are often seen as powerful conduit crystals, helping to focus and amplify the Divine Source energy so that we can direct our intentions, strengthen our goals, protect what we value and release what is no longer supportive.

Iolite is also part of the orthorhombic crystal system, which has a diamond-like inner structure. Metaphysically, orthorhombic crystals are often considered helpful when we need to let go of what we no longer want, end situations that have run their course, and release old energies so that greater balance can come in.

I find iolite to be a powerful stone for meditation and for linking with the soul. Connected with the Third Eye, it can help us see things from a different perspective and perceive the bigger picture – now wouldn’t that be helpful!

I appreciate you may not have a piece of Iolite but because your consciousness is not constrained by time and space you can intentionally link with the higher devic intelligence of Iolite and imagine it enveloping you with its deep blue colour.  The affirmation I recommend is: โ€œI open myself to the path of inner vision and I trust that I will be guided to what I need to see for the highest good of All.โ€

May you find the clarity to become more aligned with your inner truth and let go of what is preventing you to grow.

Blessings always
